Many families with wealth in excess of $100 million create privately owned companies known as family offices to grow and transfer their wealth across multiple generations. Berkshire Advisors, Inc. provides family office services on a contract basis to any family with investable assets of at least $5 million. These “offices” employ individuals to manage a wide range of matters including day to day activities such as investments and estate planning, succession planning, trustee services and trust administration, insurance needs, tax planning and preparation, financing, other business interests, househould employees, payroll, property management, accounting, bill paying, among others.
The hallmark of Berkshire’s investment philosophy is to seek the lowest risk approach to providing consistent positive returns under normal market conditions. In an attempt to achieve these results based on a clients risk tolerance, we construct portfolios which often combine uncorrelated and correlated traditional market products. We do not limit asset allocation only to stocks, bonds and ETF’s.
By reviewing economic trends, we conduct an extensive analysis to determine which asset classes can potentially provide the best risk- return tradeoff. We are able to eliminate unnecessary exposure to asset classes that are expected to underperform and, therefore, capture relative returns.
